James “Jim” F. Schaefer, age 80, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025. He was born on May 21, 1945 in Hustisford, WI, the son of Milton and Violet (Nagel) Schaefer. On December 22, 1965 he was united in marriage to Joan Marie Marsch in Mayville.
He proudly served his country from 1965 to 1967 with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Mayville American Legion Post #69. Jim was a heavy construction operator and a member of Operating Engineer Local 139 in Pewaukee. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Reedsburg.
Jim and Joan traveled in their RV over 20 years, and lived in Texas for 17 years. He enjoyed cars and going to car shows.
Jim was honored to travel this past May 2025 with the Badger Honor Flight, a trip he truly enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jerry Schaefer.
Jim is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Joan; nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Jim are scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, followed by military rites. Reverend Kris Totzke, Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will also be on Thursday, at the funeral home from 12 noon until 12:45 pm.
