James M. Wentland, age 82, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 18, 1938, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Sylvester and June (Paskiewicz) Wentland. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army. On June 18, 1960, James was united in marriage to Patricia A. Schoba in Milwaukee. This marriage was blessed with seven children. Jim and Pat lived in Greendale following their marriage. He was employed as a carpenter, learning his craft from the age of ten helping his father.
Jim was a member of the Greendale Auxiliary Police and a drummer in the Tri-City Concertina Club. The Wentland family later moved to Reedsburg where Jim became active in many community groups; he served as an Alderman for the City of Reedsburg, served as a member of the Reedsburg Ambulance and a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Jim was very musically and artistically gifted; he loved art and painting, and had a great singing voice. He enjoyed cars, and watching softball games. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends and often looked forward to cocktail hour. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Ann (Gregg) Borucki of Reedsburg, Michael (Andrea) Wentland of Menomonee Falls, Kelly (Curt) Brekke of Reedsburg; grandson, Shane Wentland; sister, Judy McKenzie of Baraboo; brother, Jerry (Carey) Wentland of Harrisville; brother-in-law, Gilbert Schoba of Iowa; sister-in-law, LaVerne Schoba of Milwaukee; adopted family, Todd and Angie Klitzke and their children, Connor, Cassidy, Chloe, Colby and Cady; several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.
