Jeffrey Corning Obituary

Jeffrey Lee Corning, 69, of LaValle, Wisconsin, passed away December 1, 2024.

Born on December 15, 1954, in Portage, Wisconsin, Jeff was the eldest son of Robert Lee and Mary Lou (Wrezenski) Corning. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1973 and learned his farrier trade at a horseshoeing school in Oklahoma. For 30 years, Jeff owned and operated Corning Horseshoeing. He also dedicated 17 years of service as a State of Wisconsin Corrections Officer.

Jeff and Holly Corning were married June 18, 1994, and their favorite vacation spot for 30 years was in Eminence, Missouri, at the Cross Country Trail Ride where they enjoyed riding horses, camping with their friends and family, dancing and sharing stories around the campfire. Jeff also loved camping at LaRiviere Horse Park in Prairie du Chien, where he knew every trail by heart. He was always up for a challenge whether it was a tough horse, rough trail, or obstacle in life.

In retirement, Jeff and his loving wife Holly found joy exploring the scenic trails with the Baraboo Bluffs ATV/UTV Club.

Jeff’s life was enriched by his love for family, good horses, classic country music, and long, challenging trail rides. Known for his signature laugh, sense of humor, and wise advice, he brought warmth and wisdom to all who knew him. His commitment to his community was unwavering; he served in multiple board positions, including as President of the Little Britches of Rodeo of Wisconsin and the LaValle Team Penner’s Association. Jeff played a key role in coordinating events like the LBW Rodeo in LaValle and the LaValle Bulls and Barrels Event.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Corning; siblings David (Betsy) Corning, Karen (Dennis) Vlach, and Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Holly; children Jessie (Jim) Kreke, Morgan (Terrence) Cordray, Abby (Dan) Martin; and bonus children Chad (Dawn) Powell and Christa (Ed) Pitzer. Jeff and Holly shared 16 cherished grandchildren: Emily, Shelly, Dylan, Kylie, Drew, Katie, Dustin, Tess, Maci, Myles, Merritt, Marshall, Maverick, Callie, Cash, and Faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Corning, and his grandparents, Hugh and Ruth Corning.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, followed by a service at 1:30 PM at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, WI.
