Jerome R. “Jerry” Schulz, age 84, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. He was born on May 8, 1939 in Sauk County, WI, the son of Clifford and Edna (Nachreiner) Schulz. On April 5, 1997 he was united in marriage to Nanette Judge.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam era.

In earlier years, Jerry worked at Ed Kraemer and Sons, and also drove for Wisconsin Dairies. He owned two taverns over the years, Jerry and Arlene's Bar in Hillpoint, and the Bourbon Barrel in Loganville. Jerry finished his career as a truck driver for Scott Construction.

Jerry loved the outdoors. He hunted in earlier years. However, he was able to fish up until a few years ago. He loved to garden and enjoyed sharing his produce with others. Jerry was a fantastic cook, and in later years became quite the soup maker. And no one could mix a cocktail as good as he could.

Jerry enjoyed traveling. He loved his fishing trips to Canada and to South Dakota every spring with his group of wonderful friends. He traveled to many other places in the country and enjoyed each and every destination.

He was a very kind and thoughtful man, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Everyone that knew him loved him. Jerry loved his family, friends and life itself.

We are grateful for all the wonderful medical attention he was given over the years with the Reedsburg Area Medical Center, UW Hospital, the VA Hospital, Reedsburg Senior Life Center, Bright Star (Christina), and especially Melissa at the Sauk Prairie Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David, and sister-in-law, Alison Jansen.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Nanette of Reedsburg; children, Todd (Theresa) Schulz of Hillpoint, Kim Schulz of Reedsburg, Amy (J.J.) Coleman of Hillpoint, and David (Jackie) Schulz of Necedah; grandchildren, Shannon Schulz (Jake Faber) of Reedsburg, Maria (Paul) Sutter of Mauston, Erin Coleman and Junior Coleman of Hillpoint; great-grandchildren, Mason, Maverick, Maddyn, Parker, Piper and Sawyer; special aunt, Helen Nachreiner of Merrimac; brother-in-laws Chris Jansen of Indiana, Robert Judge of Virginia, Martin (Deb) Judge of Hudson, WI, Richard (Steph) Judge of Prairie du Sac; sister-in-laws Colleen Judge of Chicago, Suzanne (Scott) Dischler of Reedsburg, along with other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Jerome “Jerry” Schulz will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Chaplain Dan Farber officiating. Burial with military rites will be held at St. Paul Cemetery, Hillpoint. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to the Partners of RAMC for a nursing scholarship.
