An angel was called home on June 4, 2024. Jessie Ann Conlin, age 89, unexpectedly passed away surrounded by loved ones.
Jessie is the daughter of John and Rosa (Fitzgerald) Howard. She was one of 10 children. Only two of her siblings remain living at this time: Mary Douglas and Patricia Schafer.
Jessie met her future husband, Peter Conlin, while working as a secretary at Hankscraft in Reedsburg. On October 27, 1956, Peter and Jessie were united in marriage and together they had five children They welcomed 6 grandchildren into their lives, but only Jessie was fortunate enough to greet the 5 great-grandchildren. Her Catholic faith, raising her children and taking care of her family was Jessie’s priority and she also enjoyed a very active social life.
She was an avid bowler. She and her sister Rita were on the Matousek Motors bowling team for several years and competed in many state tournaments. For over 50 years, every Wednesday night she met with her “Culture Group” – neighborhood ladies meeting to enjoy cocktails and good conversations. She was involved in an Exercise Group – ladies met every Tuesday for exercise at the Rec Center and then went to Marty’s for breakfast. For the last couple of years, they opted out of the exercising but continued to meet for breakfast. For several years, Jessie would host the exercise ladies at the beloved Conlin Cabin on Blueberry Lake near Hayward for a weekend of casino visits and fishing, with brother-in-law Jug Harms being in charge of cleaning the fish. They would rent the Able Trek Tour bus and enjoy the trip to Hayward in style. Jessie also volunteered at the Reedsburg Area Hospital assisting patients and guests.
Peter and Jessie traveled extensively during their married life and in later years with their good friends Roy and Sandy Carlson. They enjoyed the sites of Ireland, China, Canada, Alaska Lake Powell, many of the National Parks in the USA, and several other European Countries.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Peter, her daughters, Nancy Conlin and Dr. Julie Seagrist; all but two of her siblings and all of their spouses. She is survived by her children: Bill (Carrie), Betty and Michael (Dori), several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
