Joan M. Kissack, age 91, of Reedsburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center with her family by her side.  She was born on March 18, 1935, in Soldier’s Grove, WI, the daughter of Loraine and Florence (Potts) Connely. 

On June 4, 1953, Joan was united in marriage to Claron “Bud” Kissack in Soldiers Grove.  This marriage was blessed with six children and many cherished years together.

Joan grew up in Soldier’s Grove area and graduated from Soldiers Grove High School as salutatorian. Following marriage, Joan and Bud farmed for a short time in the Soldiers Grove area before moving to the Wisconsin Dells, Rock Springs, LaValle, and Reedsburg areas.

Joan dedicated herself as a loving stay-at-home mother while her children were young. Later, she began working for the Reedsburg School District as an aide, where she found great joy in helping children learn and grow.  Her caring nature and gentle spirit made a lasting impact on many students and colleagues.

Joan was known for her generosity and warm heart. She enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, and playing cards with family and friends. She was also an exceptional cook and baker – her homemade bread and chicken and noodles were family favorites every Sunday.

She was formerly an active member of the North Freedom Rod and Gun Club and was a hunter safety instructor. Joan was a devoted member the North Freedom United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce Kissack; grandsons, Richard Weinke and David J. Kissack; siblings: Audrey (Morley) Adams, Gail (Virginia) Connelly, Jim (Fern) Connely, Dick (Doris Connely-Thompson) Connely.

Joan is survived by her husband, Claron “Bud”; children, Carol (Harold) Weinke, Randy (Bonnie) Kissack, Diane (Bob) Mears, Brian (Tammy) Kissack, Lori (Doug) Harder; 10 grandchildren many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Joan Kissack will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the Farber Funeral Home with Pastor Roxanne Gnatzig and Chaplain Daniel Farber officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at 3:30 pm in the North Clayton Cemetery, Soldiers Grove, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Freedom United Methodist Church.
