Joan Marie Sefkar, age 82, of Mauston, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston. She was born on February 24, 1938 in LaValle Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Kenneth W. and Marlene E. (Jackson) Pierce. On December 29, 1962, she was united in marriage to Gustav A. Sefkar. Joan was a secretary at the LaValle Creamery until it closed, and then became employed at the Creamery in Union Center. From there she worked at Foremost Farms in Baraboo for several years before continuing her work on the farm. In her younger years she enjoyed working on the farm, and had a love for dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Gustav A. Sefkar in 1983.
Joan is survived by her sisters, Karen (Eugene) Geitz of LaValle, and Linda Grant of Baraboo; nieces and nephews: Darrick (Jill) Geitz, Darrene Geitz, Dain Geitz, Daniel “Augie” Geitz, Dal Geitz, David (Wendy) Grant, and Darrell (Andrea) Grant; great nieces and nephews, with other relatives and friends. She always appreciated Mike’s help.
Private family graveside services for Joan were held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Big Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating.
The Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family.
