John E. Carey, age 90, of Madison, entered his eternal home on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 14, 1934, in Madison, WI, raised in Mazomanie, WI, son of Edmund and Alta (Lappley) Carey. John graduated from the Marquette School of Dentistry in 1958. He began his dental career serving in the US Air Force. He then moved to Madison, where he continued his practice for over 50 years.
On May 17, 1958, John was united in marriage to Janet Ruth Quaden. This marriage was blessed with five children. Janet preceded him in death on August 7, 2016.
John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his 2nd home in LaValle. This is where many happy memories were made.
John will be remembered as a devoted family man and friend. His calm, caring, and generous nature was admired by many.
John is survived by his children, Shelley (Castel) Gordon, Debbie Ashley, Jill (Al) Schultz, Lisa (Scott) Luedke, Chris (Shannon) Carey, grandchildren: Mike (Kathryn) Ashley, Bryan (Kristin) Ashley, Lauren (Thomas) Gattis, Allie (Kyler) Royston, Matt (Dru) Luedke, Brad Schultz, Megan Luedke, 12 great grandchildren, brother, Richard (Corinne) Carey, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
Private family graveside services for John E. Carey are being held at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaValle.
