Joseph J. Kast

Joseph J. Kast, age 79, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Casa De Oakes. He was born on January 29, 1941, in Richland Center, WI, the son of George and Molly (Fargen) Kast. On November 22, 1958, he was united in marriage to Shirley E. Monskey. This marriage was blessed with three children. Joe was in auto sales for Kleeber Ford and Berning Motors for many years. He owned and operated Villa Inn in Hillpoint for 11 years until they sold the bar. Following that he was in auto sales for Fedderly’s and when he semi-retired he worked at Wheel City. Joe was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. He was a former Hillpoint Fire Chief for 20 years. Joe was a Past President of Tavern Host of Wisconsin.  He loved fishing, deer hunting, and he enjoyed his trips up north fishing, and spending time outdoors. When he was able he enjoyed playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley on February 20, 2017; son, Timothy Allen Kast on January 1, 1985; brothers-in-law Donald Mutterer, Larry Monskey and Mike Howard.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Noel) Richert-Foley of Reedsburg; his son Mark (Jan) Kast of Hillpoint; grandchildren: Ryan (Katie) Richert, and children, Rayha, Rachel and Ross; Michelle (Rob) Gardner, and children, Sara, Tanner and Tierney;  Mike Wagner, and son, Jake; Mark Jr. (Mary) Kast, and children, Lily and Gavin; Matt Kast, and children, Jade and Carter; brothers and sisters: JeanAnn Repsumer of Richland Center, Mary Jane Howard of Reedsburg, Jim (Carol) Kast, Jerry (Laura) Kast, John (Jeannie) Kast, all of Hillpoint; sisters-in-law Betty Monskey of Deerfield and Sherry Mutterer of Hillpoint; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Burial will be made in St. John Cemetery, Hillpoint. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, and on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
