Joyce A. Foss

Joyce A. Foss, age 87, of Reedsburg, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.  She was born on July 16, 1935, in the Town of Reedsburg, Sauk County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Obee and Jessie (Simpson) Retzlaff.

Joyce attended Country School and later graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1953.  She attended Sisters of St. Mary’s in Madison and attained a Nursing Degree. She was employed with Dr. Stadel and Dr. Knight in Reedsburg for several years.  On April 21, 1955, Joyce was united in marriage to Lorenz F. Foss. This marriage was blessed with two children. After a career break while raising her family, Joyce worked as a Bookkeeper for Reeds Gas which later became Lakes Gas until her retirement.

Adventure captivated Joyce. Whether it was in the kitchen trying new recipes, or traveling with her husband to Alaska, Germany and Austria to name a few, she enjoyed seeing and learning new things.  Joyce enjoyed music, both classic and modern, attended stage shows, and liked to garden and arrange flowers.  She had a love for animals, and a greater love for her family. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsburg.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Lorenz ‘Larry’ of Reedsburg; sons, Richard (Karen) Foss of Stevens Point, and Ronald Foss of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Adam (Nathana) Foss of Hot Sulphur Springs, CO, Alex (Jenny) Foss of Stevens Point, Jesse ML Foss of Reedsburg; nieces, Barb Flick and Lisa (Kevin) Hoff of Reedsburg; several other nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, and two sisters.

Private family funeral services will be held.  Burial will be made in St. John Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Reedsburg.  Memorials may be made to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church.
