Karen R Meichus Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Karen R Meichus, who left us on June 7th, 2024, aged 82.  She passed peacefully with family by her side.

Karen was the daughter of Herman and Ella (Steinhorst) Schultz, from Reedsburg.  She was married to Orvin Meichus, on May 9th, 1970, who passed in 2011.

Karen loved spending time with family and friends, playing games, setting puzzles, or just visiting.  She enjoyed holidays, especially Christmas.  She loved her Hallmark movies, gardening, and feeding the birds.  She always made chili for the deer hunters every year.  She made many types of Christmas cookies, and her macaroni and potato salads were always in demand.  Her famous apple pies and rhubarb crunch were some family favorites.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvin; daughter, Diane; parents, Herman and Ella; brothers, Philip (Betty), Alvin (Arlene) and Louie (Ruth); and sister, Gertrude.

She leaves behind her children, Wendy (Craig), Donald, David (Kami), and Debra (Nate); grandchildren, Nicole, Christa (Dustin), Brooke, Kyan, Collin, Max, Eve, and Lilli, and great-grandchildren, Devon, Austin, Tyler and Benjamin; as well as many nieces and nephews, and (adopted) kids and grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life for Karen will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 11 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Hay Creek Schoolhouse/Town Hall on the corner of Highway F and Highway K, north of Reedsburg.
