Kathryn L. Hansen

Kathryn L. Hansen, age 85, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Casa de Oakes. She was born on July 13, 1937 in Julesburg, CO, the daughter of Edgar and Loree (Kahl) Klemme Kathryn graduated from Big Springs High School in 1955.  Following high school she attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.  She was united in marriage to Vincent Hansen on August 16, 1959 in Big Springs, NE. Kathy and Vince enjoyed 58 years of marriage together until Vince’s passing on March 31, 2017.

In 1973 Kathy and Vince moved from Nebraska to Springfield, IL where Kathy remained until Vince’s death in 2017.  Kathy was a lifelong educator and ended her career as a substitute teacher in Springfield, IL.  In 2018 Kathy moved to Reedsburg, WI to be closer to family and resided at Casa De Oakes.

Throughout her life Kathy enjoyed spending time with friends and family and especially loved hosting parties. She was a faithful member of Calvary Church in Springfield, IL.  She also gave countless hours of volunteer time to several organizations close to her heart in the Springfield area.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Vincent Hansen in 2017.

She is survived by her children, Heather Ruppert and Christopher (Tracey) Hansen; grandchildren, Martin, Nicholas, Sophia and Abigail Ruppert, and Tyler and Dillon Hansen; brother Bruce (Susan) Klemme and nephews Jay and Keith Klemme.

A memorial service for Kathryn will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Calvary Church, 1730 W. Jefferson St., Springfield, IL, with Rev. Paul Rose officiating. A graveside burial will be held at a later date in Big Springs, NE.
