Krista E. Berkowski, age 49, of Reedsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 as a result of an automobile accident. She was born on June 13, 1975 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Norman “Lee” Flanders and Cindy Vetterli (Flanders). She attended school and graduated from Jefferson High School in Rockford, IL, later obtaining her RN license from Rasmussen College.

Krista loved dancing when she was growing up, and in her later years she enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing with her late husband Tom Berkowski. She gave birth to her daughter Josie in 1998 and from that moment forward she had her partner in crime. They did everything together, tubbing, sledding, shopping, and sitting in the four-seasons room eating clam strips after a long day. Krista also took care of and spent a great majority of her time with her grandchildren who she loved dearly. They were her life and truly meant the world and more to her.

She was preceded in death by her father Norman “Lee” Flanders, her Aunt Dee, her late husband Tom Berkowski, and Rick Sipe Sr.

Krista is survived by her husband, Philip Ference; daughter, Josie Sipe (Stephen Hahlen); mother, Cindy Flanders; brother, Corey Flanders; grandchildren, Tyler, Charlotte, and Brantley. Krista is also survived by many other great family members and friends who will miss her adventurous spirit, unforgettable personality that always was there to brighten your day with a hilarious comment or kind words of wisdom. Krista will be missed more than words can say or she could ever truly know.

A Celebration of Life for Krista will be held at a later date in Illinois when weather and time can permit a gathering to celebrate a woman who will be truly missed.
