Larry Craker Obituary

Larry Arthur Craker, 86, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, died on May 27, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Together with his wife Lila he still lived in the home he was born in, May 27, 1940, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Larry was the son of the late Arthur and Loretta (Ziech) Craker. Larry devoted a life to family, friends, and the land. Larry spent a lifetime farming.

After the unexpected death of Arthur, Larry took over the family farm. Larry graduated from Reedsburg High School and married Lila Christian on August 22, 1964, at St. Peters Lutheran Church. Together, Larry and Lila built a home on the farm and raised six children. Family was always central, and Larry and Lila rarely missed an opportunity to support children and grandchildren. Larry loved the steady rhythm of farm life, cared deeply for animals, and knew every corner of the land. Larry’s family will always treasure “chore time” with Dad and Grandpa, the sound of humming on the farm, family hay days, coffee around the table, the steady care given to those he loved, and the example of true love shared with Grandma. The farm remains the place where family gathers for birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. Thank you for showing what it means to stay true to yourself, put family first, and work hard.

In addition to his wife Lila of 62 years this year, Larry is survived by his children; Pamela Schulenburg (Butch Kropp) of Reedsburg, Brian Craker (Lisa Wartner) of Milton, Bruce Craker (Michelle Kraemer) of Middleton, Delvin Craker (Shelley Ripley) of Hill Point, and Darian Craker of Reedsburg; grandchildren; Brittney (Tyler), Zachary (Michelle), Chelsey (Trevon), Ashley (Jason) , Derek, Dacoda (Logan), Seth (Kayla), Clay, Joshua, and Ethan; great-grandchildren; Kennedy, Caden, Braxton, Lettie, Ollie, Quincy, Caden, Kennedi, Cooper, and Levi; and sisters Lenore Bauer, Janice Horkan (Larry), and Lois Thompson (John); Sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his daughter Paula, his grandson Jacob and his brothers Gordon and Donovan.

To our beloved Larry, Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa: as family gathers to honor a life well lived, both pride and grief reflect the love, comfort, and strength shared with each of us. Although hearts ache, Larry’s memory and legacy live on as families are raised with the compassion and strength passed down through generations. There is comfort in knowing Larry is at peace, he will be deeply missed.
