Loretta Elaine Christian

Loretta Elaine Christian, 88, of Reedsburg, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. 

Loretta was born February 8, 1935, in the Summit Township to the late Herbert L. and Mathilda E. (Lucht) Pfaff. The youngest of seven children, Loretta grew up on the family farm in Mauston and graduated from Mauston High School in 1953. On June 9, 1954 she married Arthur Christian, and a few years later they completed their family of three with the birth of their daughter Glenda. They eventually moved to Reedsburg where she worked at various places, including The Grill where she baked pies early in the morning, a shoe store, a daycare center, and cared for elderly family and friends. 

She greatly enjoyed dancing polkas and waltzes with Arty, fishing, especially ice fishing, and camping. She was a great friend to many and loved to gather and socialize with her family and friends. She was known to always have a smile on her face and was quick to share a laugh. 

She is survived by her daughter Glenda Volz (and special friend Ralph Heiser) of Reedsburg; her grandson Daniel (Bethany) Volz of Decorah, Iowa; her two great-grandchildren, Jillian and Christian; many nieces and nephews, friends and family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings John (Doris) Pfaff, Helen (Fred) Foltz, Evelyn (Bud) Monskey, Merton Pfaff, Glen (Verena) Pfaff, and Roger (Delores) Pfaff. 

Funeral Service for Loretta will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11:00 am at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. The Reverends Robert Benson and Robert Butler will co-officiate. Visitation will also be on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Lindina Evergreen Cemetery in Mauston. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Big Creek, rural LaValle.
