Marilyn P. Kagel, age 77, of LaValle, (formerly of Elgin,IL), passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at home.  She was born on October 2, 1946, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Stanley and Marie (Ulanski) Mroczkowski.

Marilyn was a 1964 graduate of Jones Commercial High School in Chicago.  On August 3, 1968, Marilyn was united in marriage to Cpl. Charles H. Kagel US Marine Corps.  This marriage was blessed with three children. Shortly after marriage, Marilyn and Chuck started a family.  She was later employed at the Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL for 30 years, retiring in 2016.

She was a member of Holy Angels Parish in LaValle and the LaValle American Legion Post #242 Women’s Auxiliary. Marilyn was an avid reader.  She had a very outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and those she met for the first time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Mroczkowski and Michael Mroczkowski in infancy.

Marilyn Is survived by her husband, Chuck; children: Mary (Don) Geis, Christopher (Michelle) Kagel, and Connie (Jeremy) Bilger; grandchildren: Noah and Leah Geis, Alexi and Riley Kagel, Cody and Calli Bilger; brother, William Mroczkowski; sister-in-law, Cathy Mroczkowski; brother-in-law, Bill (Becky) Kagel; several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn P. Kagel will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 310 Bluff Street LaValle. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Holy Family Parish Center, and on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.  Private family burial will take place at a later date in Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaValle.
