Marjorie Berning, beloved to so many, passed Friday, January 21, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Mimi was born on February 9, 1933, the daughter of George and Mary (Ludwig) Kerwin of Lake Delton. She was a graduate of Wisconsin Dells High School.
She was married to the love of her life, William Berning Jr. in 1951. The marriage was blessed with a daughter, Randi Berning (Smith). Bill and Mimi were involved with the family businesses, Berning Implement and Berning Garage. Mimi "The John Deere Lady", served on the Holy Cross Church Board and the Reedsburg Hospital Board. She served as her daughter's Girl Scout leader, enjoyed her bridge club, and the women's golf league. Sports were a passion for Mimi. She and Bill had season Badger tickets for football, basketball, and hockey and enjoyed them to the fullest.
Mimi is survived by her daughter Randi (Rex) Smith, of Boulder Junction, WI; grandchildren Katie (Steve) Pfieffer of Wausau, William (Billy) and Maggie Smith of Arizona; great grandchildren, Britney (Tyler), Brandon (Alexa), Marley, Alexia and Andrew; brothers and sisters: Pat and Helen Kerwin, Frank and Colleen Terbilcox, Bill and Lynn Harrison, Ronald and Mary Lou Flock, Martin and Lila Berning; her special nieces and nephews: Doug and Kathie Kerwin, Pat, Tim and Terri Terbilcox, Scott, Heidi and Todd Harrison, Jackie, Peter, Tracy and Kevin Flock, Lindy, Annie, Mark and Matt Berning.
Mimi wanted a special thank you to everyone who watched out for her so attentively when Bill passed and throughout this long and arduous illness. She had countless friends and special angels who weathered every storm with her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Rev. Mike McElwee, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church of LaCrosse officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Lake Delton, or the Carbone Cancer Center.
