Marlyn Elva Bauer, age 87 of Plain, went to rest on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac.
Marlyn was born on the family farm in Hillpoint, WI on October 5, 1938, the daughter of the late Hubert and Eleanor (Muchow) Meyer.
She graduated from Reedsburg High School class of 1956 and continued her education at Sauk County Teachers College and UW Platteville. She began teaching in a one room school in the Township of Bear Creek, and then went on to teach in Walworth, WI, Loganville, and St. Luke’s in Plain.
Marlyn married Robert Bauer on November 9, 1963 in Plain. They were married 61 years before Bob’s passing. After boys and teaching, she returned back to work at Edward Kraemer and Sons and later went to work for PIC (Pro Assurance).
Marlyn enjoyed cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers, golfing, cross stitching, scrapbooking, gardening, shopping and being with friends. She especially enjoyed the yearly butchering, wrapping meat, making sausage at her cousin Chuck’s where the close knitted cousins worked together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Hubert and Eleanor Meyer; her sister Nancy and brother-in-law Jim Imhoff; father and mother-in-law Anthony and Stella Bauer; and brother-in-law Allyn Bauer.
She is survived by her sons Rob (Julie) Bauer of Verona and Shaun (Kym) Bauer of Jefferson; four grandchildren: Courtney Bauer (Brian Stott) of Merton, WI, Lucas (Courtney) Bauer of Prosper, TX, Tara (Mike) Feurig of Kimberly, WI, Jillian (Brandon) Haney of Little Elm, TX; four great-grandchildren: Nolan and Cameron Bauer, Raegan Feurig, and Harrison Haney, with a 2nd Haney on the way; sister and brother-in-law Carol and Rudy Ringlestetter; sister-in-law, Maxine Bauer; as well as her bonus family Mason and Addie Stott. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A special thank you, to the dear friends, whose kindness and unwavering support brought her comfort. Also a huge thank you to the Pines staff and Agrace Hospice for their wonderful care, especially Megan and Kevin.
A memorial service for Marlyn will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until 11:15 A.M. at the church. Burial will be made in St. Luke’s Cemetery in Plain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to Agrace Hospice, or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hillpoint.
