Marvin (Bud) Wayne Manweiler, age 94, of Oak Lawn, Illinois, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024. Bud was born on October 16, 1929 in Portage, the son of Richard (Dick) and Esther (Schluter) Manweiler. He was one of four children, growing up on his family farm in Merrimac, Wisconsin. Bud graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1949 and his motto was “It doesn’t matter what one does, or how he does it, just so he doesn’t get caught.” He served in the United States Navy (USS Bowers) during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal.
He married the love of his life, Dotty Hudzinski, in Baraboo, Wisconsin on June 6, 1959. Bud was lovingly welcomed by five amazing brothers-in-law — Joe, Al, Bob, Ray and Dale, they loved him as a brother. They were blessed with four children, Therese (Teri), Dawn, Gina and Greg. Bud worked as a supervisor for Abitibi in Chicago, IL for 25 years achieving numerous safety awards, a maintenance mechanic for Heritage Electric for 7 years, and as a truck driver for International Paper Co. before retiring at the age of 65.
Bud was such a quiet, gentle man who dearly cherished his family. He was passionate about reading the daily newspaper, woodworking, gardening, camping, fishing, playing cards (especially poker and cribbage), casino slot machines, the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers, and watching his granddaughter Lyndsay play softball at the University of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dawn; wife, Dotty; sister, Bernita (Bunny) Littel.
He is survived by his daughters, Therese (Teri) Manweiler, Gina Doyle, and son Greg Manweiler (Isabel (Bing)); grandchildren: Nicole (Matt), Paul (Shannon), Lyndsay (Adam), Tracy; greatgrandchildren: Landon, Addison, PJ, Luke, Emma; sisters Shirley Bible and Jeanette (Richard) Sloan. Our family would especially like to thank papa Buds care giver team — Tony, Norman, Edith, Ann, Emmie and Angie for their gentle care and loving kindness. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him as he was truly one of a kind.
