Marvin L. Mittlesteadt, age 90, of rural Wonewoc, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 16, 1934, in Madison, WI, the son of Levi and Theo (King) Mittlesteadt. Marvin grew up on a farm in rural Sauk County. Growing up Marvin and his brothers played ball and was part of a family band even being featured on Channel 33’s Talent show out of Madison, WI. with Marvin playing the accordion.
Marvin proudly served his country in the US Army from July of 1955 to July 1957 as a member of the 101st Airborne. Upon his honorable discharge Marvin owned a garage in Hillpoint. He enjoyed mechanical work and excelled in rebuilding engines.
On June 27, 1959, Marvin was united in marriage to Merna M. Fuller. This marriage was blessed with four children. Following marriage, Marvin and Merna moved to Mauston. There Marvin worked at the Mauston Ford Garage. After a few years Marvin and Merna bought a farm in the Lime Ridge area where they raised their growing family. Marvin took great pride in their dream of owning their own farm taking care of the animals as well as his machinery and crops. Snowmobiling was a favorite winter activity for Marvin and his family. They spent a lot of fun quality time together snowmobiling both locally and in northern Wisconsin. Marvin also enjoyed rebuilding his 1955 Plymouth Savoy to perfect condition. He always had room for his favorites of pie, ice cream and root beer floats!
Marvin was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wonewoc.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandchildren, Baby Angel and Ayria; brothers, Martin, Monard and Maynard and sister-in-law Mary Mittlesteadt.
He was always willing to offer a helping hand and will be missed greatly!
Marvin is survived by his wife, Merna; children and their spouses: Karin (Doug) Powell, Deana (Harlan) Urban, Vern (Tammy) Mittlesteadt, Terri ( Dave) Gher; grandchildren: Jenny (Brandon), Jon (Holly), Jake (Jen), Linda (Jake), Kristen (Kevin), Cody (Kelsey), Jessica (Matt), Mandy, Lindsay (Ryan), Ashley (Cole), Josh (McKenna), 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Monica (Jim) Wagner, Myrna (Jerry) Williams; sisters-in-law, Betty Mittlesteadt and Shirley Mittlesteadt; several nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Marvin L. Mittlesteadt will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wonewoc with Pastor Jacob Limpert officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Wonewoc. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, from 4:00 until 8 PM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials of remembrance may be made to Agrace Hospice.
