Mary Dominguez Obituary

Mary E. Dominguez (Owens) was a traveler sojourner on this earth for 89 years, 9 months and 7 days. She and her twin sister Alice were born August 21, 1936 in Union Center, WI. They were part of a family of 18 children.

She was mother to 8 children, 2 of whom died in the womb before or soon after birth. Losing those children were one of the many heartaches and losses she experienced as a young woman. These events changed her in good ways and bad ways. She would be knocked to her knees many times in her life, and she would find the strength to rise again each time, keep living and keep loving. She was an example of strength and perseverance to her whole family.

Like all of us, Mary wasn't perfect. She made poor choices at times, lived with regrets. Forgiveness, mercy and reconciliation were exchanged frequently. But she finished in life well, as an imperfect example of Jesus to those around her.

She never owned a new car, or a fancy house, or made any great accomplishments by the world's standards. But she was rich in love and showing kindness to others around her. She believed in Jesus as her Savior and struggled daily to live for Him.

She started her own taxi service in Reedsburg WI, and with it came opportunities to help and bless many in the community around her. She especially loved to help the special needs people she would transport. She loved them and they loved her.

Mary spoke Spanish, read her Bible, prayed for family, loved real country music, gospel songs, and watching the game show network with the volume cranked up. She loved cooking for family and friends. She loved the Mexican people and cuisine, and thankful for her friends and great food at the Cancun Bay Mexican restaurant in Reedsburg.

She held our hands, cooked us too much food, wiped away our tears, prayed for the people God brought in her life, sacrificed to be a blessing to others in any way she could.

Today was Mary's day to go home to Jesus. All the love has been given, all the words have been spoken, all the joy and sorrow has been shared, all the forgiveness given and received. This day comes to each of us, may we each follow Mary's example and finish well through all the difficult and wonderful things that come with life here.

Mary was preceded into eternity by her parents Raymond Owens and Esther Short; her children, Maryann; a son; all of her husbands; her twin sister Alice; and other brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Diana Held, Lyndon Station, Terry Christian, Baraboo, Ernest Christian, Idaho, Michael Christian, Reedsburg, Peggy Christian, Reedsburg, Alfred (Carrie) Hanko, Beaver Dam; brothers, Warren and Harvey Short; sister, Judy Gavin Steenblock; and many nieces and nephews. She was blessed to touch the lives of her 6 children, 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary chose to be cremated because she doesn't need that worn out body now that she is with Jesus and has a new eternal body. A private ceremony was held for immediate family. A celebration of life will happen at a future time and place to be announced.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.
