Mary Ann “Rusty” Wipf, age 75, of Wonewoc, WI, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. She was born on March 29, 1949, the daughter of Vern E. and Maria M. “Mary” (Bakos) Batker. She was the loving wife to Edward H. Wipf. Mary met her husband at Patrick Lake, WI.  when she was 16 years old, and married him at age 21 on September 5, 1970.

She worked as a Medical Insurance Claims Specialist for over 25 years.

Family was very important to Rusty. Holidays and birthdays were her specialty. She would spend several days wrapping presents, making them express the love she had for her family. Mom would often spend hours researching online for activities for us to do, writing things down, and putting events on her calendar as possible opportunities for us to take part in. Rusty loved to cook, and got excited about experimenting with new recipes as well as preparing old family favorites.

Rusty was an artist and loved crafting. She had an affinity for chickens including raising some of her own, and curating a vast amount of chicken art and collectables.

With a love for games, she would challenge her husband to daily matches of Kings Cribbage, and enjoyed card nights around the table with family and friends. She loved word finds, puzzles, and was a dedicated Packer fan - even insisting watching the games during her past visits at the hospital / rehab center.

Her family considered her to be a pillar of strength, very passionate, a warrior, a voice of inspiration and a best friend. Rusty had a way with words and was very outspoken. If she said, “come here and get a knuckle sandwich”, that was a term of endearment. She was a strong presence, indeed!

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary is survived by her husband, Edward H. Wipf; son, Edward M. Wipf, and daughter, Anne M. Wipf. She is also survived by her brother Edward E. Batker, and sister Sandra L. Swaney.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
