Mavis Kay Johannes, age 87, of Reedsburg, passed away quietly on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Madison, WI.   She was born on May 26, 1938, in Plainfield, WI, the daughter of Ora and Alda (Crummer) Rowsam.

Mavis taught Home Economics to high school students.  She met the love of her life, Donald Johannes at the same high school where he coached and taught woodworking.  In May of 1973, Mavis and Donald were married. Don preceded her in death.

Mavis was an incredible woman who after her husband died, lived on a five acre plot of land that she managed by herself.  She was a superb cook, a beautiful seamstress and a talented artist; and best of all she shared her talents with others. She was an avid golfer and member of the Reedsburg Country Club.  She was also an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg where she served on the CCW and helped organize and serve funeral luncheons for 14 years.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, James (Janet) Rowsam, sisters, Jeanne (William) Muschinske, Ardis (George) Nigh and Mary (Robert) Bohn.

Mavis is survived by her step-daughter, Vicki (Geoff) Poole; grandchildren: Cory (Katie) Poole, Casey (Jenni) Poole, Brittney (Michael) Murphy and their families along with her sister, Lois (Gary) Bohn; nephew, Gary (Sue) Shadof; friends, Helen and Ed Miller along with other nieces, nephews and many special friends.

A memorial service for Mavis Johannes will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating.  Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am. Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic School, Reedsburg, in lieu of flowers.
