Early Thursday morning, August 8, 2024, before the dawn had a chance to break the horizon, our hearts broke, shattered into a million tiny pieces, scattering among the last of the fading stars. After the many journeys our sweet baby boy traveled, Miles James Bishop set on the path leading to Heaven. This expedition is his last brave campaign; our hero triumphantly breached the gates and is celebrating his birthday in the arms of God surrounded by all the angels that love him.
Our precious baby boy came into this world a soldier, born on August 8, 2021 at the Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Miles began his journey here armed with a soul of a champion and shielded with the prayers and support of thousands of kind and generous folks across the entire world. Miles was so smart, his intelligence, his awareness, his wisdom belied his young age. This child could peer into your soul with a knowing unmatched by the most prestigious scholars. Miles loved so fiercely, his kindness and compassion could be felt the instant you neared, his gentle touch emanated goodness and tenderness, his ability to sooth a weary heart blanketed us with calm. His charming smile melted hearts and his laugh radiated contagious joy, his sense of humor and wit would drive fits of belly laughter and knee slapping that still echo today.
And that side eye!
This kid could throw shade like a solar eclipse! Should you give him cause to roll his eyes in your direction you instantly knew whatever you did should never be repeated. His tenacity and spunk permeated everything he did from drinking his bottle and slamming it down like a frat boy to throwing the empties across the room Miles’ spiritedness and grit was unmistakable. The mark Miles has left embedded on our hearts and seared into our souls is a permanent reminder we were blessed with the privilege to love such an extraordinary human.
His time here was unfairly brief but the impact Miles has left upon us is eternal, he taught us to never lose determination, Miles inspired us with his persistence, awed us with his strength, lifted our hearts with his smile, and overflowed our souls with his love.
Miles James Bishop is loved beyond measure by those of us he left behind: Mommy, Jodie M. Sherwood-Bishop, Daddy, James M, Bishop; and Auntiemommy Nicole Raupp, the best grandma ever, Barb Russell, countless family members and friends who surrounded Miles with love and support every single day.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his twin brother, James Miles Bishop; his grandma Marsha Higgins Schwartz; Lu and Larry Huff, aunts, Kristina Schwartz, Melissa Meinen; Maryanne Dressler and Susie Kuehnke; uncles, Bob Kuehnke, David Kuehnke,Tony Newlun, Scott Arnold, and many other loving souls awaiting his return.
We will gather in his honor and celebrate his life together, all who loved him, all who cheered him on, every last one of you who held him in your hearts and lifted him in your prayers are eagerly invited to join us on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM for the visitation. The service will begin at 3:00 PM with Pastor Ed Herman officiating. We will proceed to the Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaValle where Adam Borger will send off our sweet baby with the valiant melody of bagpipes, followed by a gathering at the La Valle Park to break bread and be in fellowship with each other with food supplied by Wisconsin River Meats and Jose’s.
Instead of flowers, Miles’ mommies have asked everyone to bring a toy to be donated to the toy rooms at the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) or donate to the Mighty Miles Fund created at WCCU in Reedsburg to help other families facing similar difficulties.
