Patrick J. Wafle, age 77, of rural Mauston, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Our House Memory Care in Reedsburg with family by his side. Pat was born on August 2, 1946 in the township of Seven Mile Creek in Juneau County, to George and Marcella (Fessey) Wafle. He graduated from Mauston High School in 1964. After graduation he went to work at Grede Foundry in Reedsburg where he worked for 44 years. On March 26, 1966 he was united in marriage to Diane Mittelstaedt. In 1971 they bought their farm on LaValle Road, raising beef cattle and pigs.

Pat enjoyed coon hunting in his younger years, with his long-time friend, Delbert Nachreiner and his dogs Tippy and Brownie. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, deer and turkey hunting. He spent many hours after retirement at the “Butcher Shop” listening to the radio waiting for someone to come along to visit, having a beer or two, and tending his cats.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of LaValle. He was a past member of the LaValle Fire Department, and the LaValle Sportsman’s Club.

Pat was preceded  in death by his parents, George and Marcella Wafle; sister, JoAnn Grosklaus; brothers, Laurence Wafle, and Edmund Wafle; brothers-in-law, Jim Mittelstaedt, and Rubin Nemitz.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane; sons Scott (Jill) Wafle of Reedsburg, and Steven Wafle (and friend) Darcy; six grandchildren, Darren (Shannon) Wafle, Darcy (Cody) Stando, Danielle (Ross) Roecker, Ben Wafle, Malinda Wafle and Sam Wafle; three great-grandsons, Grady Stando, and Berkley and Archer Wafle; his sisters, Veronica Nemitz of Brodhead, and Carolyn Guenther of LaHonda, CA; many nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.

A private family service will be held at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, with burial in Big Creek Cemetery rural LaValle. There will be a Celebration of Life from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Little Summit, N1060 WI-58, Mauston, WI 53948.
