Philip W. Wells

Philip W. Wells, age 89, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Reedsburg Medical Center. He was born on February 25, 1932 in Grayslake, Illinois, the son of Ed and Emma (Edwards) Wells. After high school, Phil served in the United States Air Force for two years. On August 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Dorfler. This marriage was blessed with three sons.

During his younger years, Phil enjoyed working alongside his father at the family appliance store in Grayslake.  When his father retired, Phil took over the business for many years. He built a Dog and Suds in 1967. In the mid 1980's Phil moved to Reedsburg with his wife Mary Ann and they started their business, 'PhilMar' and he developed Winfield Place. He also owned Wells Storage and other rental properties in Reedsburg and Grayslake. He was a hard worker and a successful businessman.  Mary Ann was diagnosed with lung cancer and she passed away on December 28, 1996.

He married Leona Farber on June 14, 2003. Phil and Leona enjoyed their retired years together with their families and lifetime friends.  They spent many years being 'Snowbirds' in Arizona.  Phil cherished his time with family and friends and he was very well liked by everyone he met. He was an avid golfer and he enjoyed spending time with his bowling league. In 2020, Phil was diagnosed with dementia and he was cared for by an amazing staff at Casa de Oakes until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann; son John (Jack); daughter in law Patty; stepdaughter Theresa Aylsworth, brother-in-law Frank Dorfler

He is survived by his wife Leona, sons Jeff,  Joe (Lynn), granddaughters Erin (Scott) Brietbach, Lisa (Mike) Sinkovecs and Carly, grandson Scott, great-granddaughter Aylin, stepchildren Ardie (Tim) Holter, Pat (Lisa) Farber, Marla (Randy) Nelson, Mike (Carla) Farber, many step grandchildren, sister-in-law Darlene Dorfler, brother in law Donald Gabelt; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Philip Wells will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Chaplain Daniel Farber officiating. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Military rites will be held following the service at the funeral home. Memorial of remembrance may be made to Casa de Oakes, or to the family.
