Richard Dean “Dick” Costerisan, age 83, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully with a smile on his face at his home on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
Richard was born on February 14, 1940, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Fred and Margaret (Good) Costerisan. Richard graduated from Webb High School in 1958. After high school, Richard started working at Grede Foundry in Reedsburg where he worked until he suffered a brain stem stroke in 1989.
He married Carol M. Hinz, the love of his life, on May 21, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Baraboo. They were together for 63 wonderful years. Richard and Carol were blessed with four children.
Richard was a sports fan. He also enjoyed collecting many different things including: Princess Diana items/dolls, to Hot Wheels, NASCAR and baseball cards. While collecting things took some time, he also enjoyed spending time volunteering at the Reedsburg Hospital Pharmacy, retiring in 2021, with a total of 2,650 hours in service. Richard was member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he had a wonderful relationship with God.
Richard is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Diane (Bryan) Meyer of Rock Springs, Nancy (Joe) Liska from Loxley, AL, and son, Gerry (Tracy) Costerisan of Reedsburg. He enjoyed his children and their company. He is further survived by 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Costerisan, sisters-in-law, Ardith Curtin and Lin Costerisan Hackbarth, and his son, Michael Costerisan, whom he missed so much.
The family would like to say thank you to Dr. “Ben” Nesseim, and to SSM Home Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Richard, especially to Crystal, RN.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard D. Costerisan will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church, LaValle, with Father Luke Syse officiating. Burial will follow in Resting Green Cemetery, Ironton. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
