Robert Brice Obituary

Robert (Bob) Melvin Brice age 92 of Reedsburg, WI, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital Madison on Friday, May 6th as the result of a stroke.

He was born August 14th, 1929, at the family farmhouse in the township of Washington; the son of Ernest Sr. and Ethel (nee Henry) Brice the middle child of nine.

On June 23, 1951, he was united in marriage to Barbara (Lucile) Schultz at Park St. Christian Church in Richland Center, WI.

Together they raised a family of four children on the family farm for 62 years on Loreto Ridge.  Bob began farming, raising dairy cattle and later beef cattle and hogs.  He then drove gravel trucks for Kraemer’s of Plain and eventually landed a career in road construction with DL Gasser and Rein Schultz & Dahl.  Finally, he finished his working career as a heavy equipment operator at Badger Ordinance in Baraboo.  For many years, he was a member of the 139 Operators Union.  Upon retirement, Bob became an avid fisherman spending quite a bit of time in the boat and on the ice in the winter.

Bob is survived by wife Lucy, daughter Debra (Thomas) Krueger of Watertown, son Jeff (Sandy) Brice of Hillpoint, daughter Vicki Brice of Reedsburg, and daughter Kristi (Travis) Hoffine of Cazenovia.  He is also survived by grandchildren: Jamie (Heather) Brice of LaCrosse, Jeremy (Anna) Brice of Chippewa Falls, Brooke (Justin) Berth of Watertown, Amber (Dave) Bingham of Hillpoint, April (Brent) Jennings of Cazenovia, Kyle (Nikki) Krueger of Watertown, Ryan (Mandy) Brice of Lyndon Station, Ashley (KJ) McBain of Cazenovia, Courtney Noonan of Reedsburg, Kerrigan (Antonio) Hoffine of Portland, OR, and Brandon Hoffine of Richland Center. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren; sister Audrey Peterson of Portage; brother Richard (Sandy) Brice of Rock Springs, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father in-law and mother in-law Clarence and Leola (nee Sinnett) Schultz. Siblings: Violet, Nelda, Donald, Carol, Ernie Jr., and Larry.  Niece Jane Stahlschmidt and nephew Bryan Brice.

Funeral services for Robert M. Brice will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Pastor Elizabeth Jacob officiating.  Burial will be made in the Lime Ridge Cemetery following a fellowship luncheon.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macular Degeneration Association 5969 Cattleridge Blvd, Sarasota, FL  34232.
