Robert “Peter” Rockweiler, age 65, of Cazenovia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg. He was born on October 31, 1959, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Mary (Deitelhoff) Rockweiler.

Peter was a 1977 graduate of Weston High School.  He held a variety of jobs following high school including: DHIA milk testing, water maintenance for the Village of Cazenovia.  He was in charge of the Germantown Sanitary District for 35 years, worked at Hartje Lumber, hauled milk for Rockweiler Milk Service, and drove bus for VARC.  Peter later went back to school and earned his Associates Degree in Drafting.  He drafted homes for several years for Wick Homes.  Peter was blessed with the gift of retaining all of the knowledge he read. He was a self-trained professional in many ways.

Some of Peter’s hobbies include: making moonshine, cooking hickory syrup, smoking meats and making cheese. He also enjoyed playing cards and trap shooting. Peter was a gunsmith and manufactured his own ammunition. He was an instructor for over 25 years for the Hunter’s Safety Program, a former member of the Cazenovia Area Fire Department, and a member of the Cazenovia Private Landowner’s ATV Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Nickolas Lawson; and sister-in-law, Heidi Rockweiler.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; step-children: Candace McGrath and son, Chrystopher; Chrystine (Matthew) Daly and their children: Ciara, Jaiden and Mason; Elizabeth Hetherington and her children Lily, Falyn, Vipkri; and William. LeCompte Ricardson IV, wife Kristin, and their children: William. LeCompte Richardson V, and their daughter, Ada Marie; sisters and brothers: Bonnie Rockweiler, Judy (Richard) Oare, Gordon (Sue) Rockweiler, Donald (Jackie) Rockweiler, Ronald Rockweiler (Marietta Rick), and Ann (Gary) Krueger; many nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Peter will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s School, County, Highway V, Cazenovia.
