Russell I. Karstetter, age 60, of Ironton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 29. 2023. He was born on May 7, 1963, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Dale C. and Josephine M. (Small) Karstetter. On September 7, 1996, Russell was united in marriage to Sherry M. Horkan. This marriage was blessed with two daughters.
Russell owned and operated RK Pallet Company and Karstetter Trucking for 20 years. He continued working in the transport industry until the present.
Russell enjoyed camping with family and friends. He was an avid Packer fan and loved cruising on his Harley with Sherry and friends. Russell was a collector of many things and had the ability to fix, build or remodel anything. His daughters referred to him as their ‘project manager.’ His response to others asking for help was “No, Hell no.” as he would laugh while proceeding to help. Russell was very supportive of his family and never missed his grandchildren’s sporting events. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit that will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Ironton; parents, Dale and Josephine Karstetter; daughters, Amber Karstetter (Mark Simon) and Jordan Karstetter (fiancé, Brandon Kleist) all of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Teaghan Alexandrea and Wyatt Russell; brothers and sister, Roger (Jenny) Karstetter of Loganville, Cheril Ferge of Reedsburg, and Mark (Sherry) Karstetter of Ironton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean (Lorrie) Horkan of LaValle, David Horkan of Lime Ridge, Sharyl Coy of Reedsburg, and Stacie (Scott) Dank of Lime Ridge; many nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
Russell was preceded in death by his brothers, Brian, Rodney, and Rolland in infancy; mother and father-in-law, Pat and Jean Horkan; brother-in-law, Greg Coy; and nephew, Kristopher Karstetter.
