Russell D. Steinmetz Obituary
Russell “Russ” Steinmetz, 66, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2026. Russ was born on September 10, 1959 in Vernon County, Wisconsin, and though life took him many places, Reedsburg is where he built a life full of love, laughter, and lasting memories. On September 10, 1992 he was united in marriage to Deborah K. Rick.
He dedicated many years of hard work as a fork truck driver/laborer at Grede Foundry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and no-nonsense attitude. Russ was the kind of man who didn’t shy away from a challenge. He met life head-on, with grit, determination, and just enough stubbornness to make sure he always had the last word.
Outside of work, Russ truly knew how to enjoy life. He had a love for muscle cars, a good cold beer, and a night out on the town. Some of his happiest moments were spent cruising the roads of Wisconsin with his wife, Deb, taking in the scenery and the simple joy of being together. Whether traveling near or far, Russ embraced every adventure with his signature spirit.
Russ was a fighter in every sense of the word. Through years of battling life’s challenges, he remained positive, resilient, and determined to make the most of every day. His strength inspired those around him, and his ability to find humor even in tough times was something many will never forget.
Above all else, Russ loved his family deeply. He was funny, thoughtful, and fiercely loyal, a man whose presence could fill a room, and whose absence will be deeply felt.
Russ is survived by his step-children: Kimberly Smallwood and Krista (Pat) Strutz; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Steinmetz (Abe Knuth), Kiley, Kaden and Kameron Churchill, Lacey Steinmetz (Casey Gavin), Dawson Brandt, Dakota Smith, Dalton Smith; great-grandchildren, Aleah, Justin, Greyson, Harper, Peyton, Jackson and Beau; nephew, Dwayne Steinmetz; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deb; his parents; step-daughter, Leslie Steinmetz; sisters, Myra, Jeanette and Sharon; and brothers, Lester, Clifford, Cecil and Dennis.
In true Russ fashion, those who knew him might agree, he’s probably already found the best cruising roads finding a bar with the coldest beer and the most pull tabs wherever he is now.
A Celebration of Life for Russell will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg
