Sharon "Sherry" K. VonBehren Obituary
Sharon “Sherry” VonBehren, a loving woman whose warmth touched the lives of many, passed away on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her family, at the age of 76. Sherry was born on June 16, 1949, to Jack and Madaline (Granger) Holby and grew up with strong family values that guided her throughout her life. She graduated from Webb High School with the class of 1967. On October 26, 1968, she was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” VonBehren, and together they shared 57 years of marriage filled with devotion, family, and countless cherished memories. Their partnership was a true example of love and commitment, and together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and hard work.
Sherry began her working career at The Big Store in Reedsburg before stepping away to focus on raising her family. While caring for her children, David and Laurie, she also babysat for many families in the community. The children she cared for often continued to greet her warmly whenever they saw her out and about, a reflection of the special place she held in their hearts. In 1982, Sherry returned to the workforce at Reedsburg Middle School, where she worked in the kitchen as a baker and cook until her retirement in 1998. After retiring, she devoted her time and affection to her grandchildren, who were the joy of her later years.
Faith was an important part of Sherry’s life. She was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Reedsburg, where she and Jerry taught Sunday School for many years. She later became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint. Her faith, service, and steady presence were a blessing to her church family and to all who worshiped alongside her.
Sherry loved the simple pleasures in life and found joy in the things she could create and share. She enjoyed going to garage sales and always had one, if not two, sales each year. Sewing was another of her favorite pastimes, and she especially loved making pajamas for her grandchildren. As time went on, she turned her sewing talents toward crafts and baby bibs for local craft fairs.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her son, David (Stephanie) VonBehren; her daughter, Laurie (Jon) Meyer; her grandchildren, Ashley (Harrison) Boland, Jonny and Jeffery Meyer, and Jordan and Taylor VonBehren; her great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Gracie Boland; her brother, Donovan (Bonnie) Holby; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Madaline Holby; her brothers, Duane (Bonnie) Holby, Jackie Holby, and infant brother, Gary.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Celina Chapman, and the staff at Reedsburg Area Medical Center for all their loving care and support.
