Shawn D. “Rooster” Nemitz, age 52, of Mauston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He was born on October 5, 1971, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Ernest Richard Nemitz and Virginia Kay (Clark) Bass.

Shawn was employed as a Logger for several years and tended bar at Jackson Clinic. He was a hunter, fisherman, and enjoying playing cards with family and friends.  Shawn often found himself on the winning side of a pull tab. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Bass, Jr., and step-father, Kenneth Bass, Sr.

Shawn is survived by his parents, Ernest Richard (Theresa) Nemitz, and Virginia Kay Bass; brothers and sisters: Matt, Heidi, Heather, Chad, James (Amy) and Rodney; nieces and nephews: Hunter, Avery, Katilyn, Olivia, Logan, Rylie and Kadin; several aunts, uncles, beloved cat, Twitter Bug, along with many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life gathering for Rooster will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Little Summit from 2:30 PM until 5:00 PM. A private family burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Lindina Township, Juneau County, WI.
