Sherrill D. Johnson, age 81, of Reedsburg, WI was called home by the Lord on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Sherrill was born in Danvers, IL on December 5, 1942, to Eldon and Jewell (Watts) McCombs, and grew up in a family of twelve children. Eight of her siblings preceded her in death. Her surviving siblings are Jane Geer of Florida, Tom McCombs, and Ron McCombs, both of Illinois.
Sherrill is survived by her husband, Eldon "Jerry" Johnson of Reedsburg, WI. She was previously married to Wilbur Garrett and together they had four children: Bryon Garrett of DesPlaines, IL, Timi Garrett of Sheboygan, WI, Dana Benedetti of Joplin, MO, and Krista Franzen of Sheboygan, WI. She had 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four stepchildren, and several step grandchildren.
Sherrill enjoyed planting and decorating flower gardens, watching birds, singing, dancing, reading, and crafting. She loved spending time with her family. She will be best remembered for her love of the Lord and His Word, and her unfailing prayers for others. She could often be found sharing the gospel and pointing others to Jesus, even in her last days on earth.
Sherrill had a sweet, feisty disposition and was a friend to everyone she met. If she could help someone in need or offer a word of encouragement, she would.
She will be deeply missed here, but we rejoice that we will see her again in her new home.
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff from Agrace Hospice who assisted the family in caring for Sherrill at Casa de Oakes in Reedsburg, WI, as well as the staff from Casa, a few of whom became particularly close to her while she resided there.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Sherrill had a tender heart for children in need.
