Shirley Ann Meyer Obituary

Shirley Ann Meyer, age 87, of Racine, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at her home.  She was born on August 30, 1937, in Reedsburg, WI, the daughter of Walter and Frances (Ederer) Meyer.

Shirley was a graduate of Webb High School in Reedsburg and attended Normal School Teacher’s College. She taught in a country school in rural Reedsburg for a short time and later moved to Racine where she worked for the Racine School District at North Park Elementary School until her retirement.  Shirley had a love of the outdoors.  She enjoyed birdwatching, fishing and tending to her vegetable garden.  She also tested her luck at the casino occasionally.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Louellen in infancy; brothers, William and John “Jack” Meyer along with other close relatives and friends,

Shirley is survived by her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Meyer of Antigo and Mary Meyer of Oostburg; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A special thank you to Rich and boys, and to Pete for taking care of Shirley through the years, and to Aurora at Home Hospice and Home Helpers of Racine for personal care and attention given to Shirley.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Reedsburg, with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to your local Humane Society of choice.
