Thomas M. Shanahan, age 85, of Hillpoint, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 30, 1940, in Franklin Township, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph M. and Frances M. (Pikel) Shanahan.

Tom grew up on a family farm near Hillpoint and attended high school in both Reedsburg and Milwaukee. Tom met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Petersen on April 11, 1964. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Tom was employed at Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee for 37 years. After his retirement, Tom and Evelyn permanently moved to their farm in rural Hillpoint. This is where Tom found great joy in being outdoors and working on their farm. He enjoyed fishing and hunting including deer, turkey and elk, as well as playing pool. He was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Loreto and the Knights of Columbus in West Allis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, David Thompson; brothers, Vincent (Barbara), Leo (Mary); brothers-in-law, Paul Beardsley and William Holtz.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children: Catherine (Gary) Thompson of Pewaukee, Thomas J. (Christine) Shanahan of Oconomowoc, Karen (John) Bauer of New Berlin; grandchildren: Joseph (Ashlee) Thompson, Megan and Nicole Shanahan, Brooke and Jordan Bauer; great grandchildren: Eleanore “Ellie”, Annabelle and Audrey Thompson; brothers and sisters: Patricia Beardsley of Milwaukee, James Shanahan of Memphis, TN, Mary Holtz of Reedsburg, Bernard (Dorothy) Shanahan of Plain, Agnes (Eugene) Schutz of Reedsburg; several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A private family funeral and celebration of life for Thomas M. Shanahan will be conducted at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Loreto, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Agrace Hospice.
