Vernice L. Schultz Obituary

Vernice L. Schultz, age 91, of Reedsburg, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. Vernice was born on February 9, 1935, in Loganville, the daughter of Lorenz and Ruth (Bergman) Luetkens.

A woman of deep faith and a generous heart, Vernice lived a life rooted in service to God, devotion to family, and the quiet strength that comes from loving others well.

As the daughter and wife of a farmer, Vernice embraced a life of hard work, patience, and partnership. She took great pride in her role and lovingly supported her family with grace and determination. Above all else, she cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—roles she considered her greatest blessings.

A true homemaker at heart, Vernice created warmth wherever she went. Her home was always open, and anyone who walked through her door was welcomed and nurtured as family. She expressed her creativity through many talents, including ceramics, sewing, and baking. She was especially known for her beautifully decorated cakes—most famously her daffodil cakes with special frosting. Birthdays were made memorable under her care, with thoughtful celebrations and imaginative cakes, from Barbie dolls to Bert and Ernie, delighting her children, grandchildren, and many others.

Vernice loved entertaining and decorating for holidays, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. Her home reflected the joy and meaning of the season, filled with beauty, tradition, and love.

She was a passionate sports fan, cheering enthusiastically for the Green Bay Packers—especially at Lambeau Field—and could often be found supporting local high school sporting events. She also enjoyed bowling and was a lifelong, avid bowler.

Her faith was central to her life. Vernice was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Loganville, where she faithfully served through Ladies Aid LWML and as church treasurer. She found great joy in fellowship and service, and her quiet devotion and kind spirit reflected her strong belief and trust in God.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Don Schultz, on August 30, 2025; her parents; father and mother-in-law, John and Edith Schultz; brother Norbert Luetkens; sisters Delores A. “Tootie” (Wilbert “Bill) Harms, Vera Mae (Orville) Hahn, and Marlene Koenecke.

Vernice is survived by her children: Michael (Sue) Schultz of Reedsburg, Gary (Mary) Schultz of Rice Lake, Diana (Dan) Curtin of Reedsburg; and Dwayne (Dee Ann) Schultz of Poynette; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Rollie (Karen) Schultz of Baraboo, and Marty Koenecke of Reedsburg; along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Vernice will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, unwavering faith, and the love she poured into her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the traditions she so lovingly created.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center, St. Croix Hospice, and BrightStar for their compassionate care.
