William Eugene McKenzie

William E. (“Bill”) McKenzie, age 86, of Reedsburg, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born in Merrimac on May 25, 1936, the 7th child of 17 to Donald and Edith (Eddy) McKenzie.

On October 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Clara Alice Faye Dorsey.

Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Clara Alice Faye McKenzie on December 20, 2020; and seven siblings.

Bill is survived by four children: Rhonda McKenzie (Sweet Pea the Pom) of Rock Springs; Linda (Jerry) Montgomery of LaValle; Donald McKenzie (Cerret Morrow) of Cazenovia; and Sheilah (Randy) Schara of North Freedom. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Andrea, Tommi Jo, Afton, Hannah, Talon (Samantha); and Cody; and six great-grandchildren: Aryanah, Christopher, Shailyn, Dylan, Max, and Teegan; and kittens Bella and Boots. Bill is also survived by nine siblings.

A Celebration of Life for William will be held Saturday August 27, 2022 from 1-5 PM at Brewster’s Lanes in Reedsburg.

A private burial with military rites will be held at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in North Freedom at a later date.

Special thanks to his ‘Sister-Wife,’ Donna Tracy, for all that you have done to make our parents’ final journeys happen from home; and to ‘Daughter 2.5,’ Jody Christianson, and to Amber Brown for everything you’ve done.

Thank you to St. Croix Hospice nurse Cheryl, and Dad’s special girl, Sadie, for making his final days calm and peaceful. We love you.
