Daniel Schyvinck Obituary

Daniel P. Schyvinck, 67 of Orlando, Florida passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 after a long illness, with his loving wife Jara, by his side. 

Dan was born February 24, 1953 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, the son of Harry P. and Honora A. (Horkan) Schyvinck. He graduated from Webb High School, Reedsburg in 1971.  He was an excellent athlete and received numerous awards in football and wrestling. 

He attended the Wisconsin School of Electronics and was employed as an electrical engineer for more than 30 years with Johnson Controls, Milwaukee.   Dan’s engineering, communication, and leadership skills led to numerous promotions and eventually he was promoted to train internationally. He was a great ambassador for the company.  Following his retirement, he continued to teach for Johnson Controls as an independent contractor.

Dan and Jara enjoyed golfing and living in the Rio Pinar community in Orlando. He was an active member at Rio Pinar Golf Club and sought to improve the course and its operations.  Dan was also an active member in the Knights of Greenfields Golf Club, participated in its annual championship and won often.   Dan loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Harry P. and Honora A. (Horkan) Schyvinck; and his infant brother John Bernard. 

He is survived by his wife Jara Sue (Humbert) of Orlando, Florida; sisters and brothers Agnes (Ronald) Pickar of Reedsburg, WI, Lawrence (Nancy) Schyvinck of Reedsburg, WI, Sheila Schyvinck of Hartland, WI, Rita (Dennis) Deitelhoff of Jim Falls, WI, Rosemary (Raymond) Greenwood of Lyndon Station, WI, Raymond (Valerie Valentine) of Wisconsin Dells, WI, and Delores (Richard) Butler of Belleville, WI. He is also survived by his close life-long friends, Don Zuehlke and Rick Whipp. 

Dan is survived by 16 nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Dan was also very close to Jara’s family who loved him as their own.  He was Uncle Dan to “The Big Ten”. They and their children made countless memories with him and shared even more moments of laughter. He will forever be missed. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dan at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Father Patrick Wendler, pastor, the celebrant officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
